| a sore thumb |
| bob log |
| Sons & Daughters, The Avalanches |
| yes yes oh yay. great to se bob log, and the avalanches were brilliant. |
|
| test |
| Yep, all good. |
| Wolfmother |
| Wolfmother, Hilltop Hoods |
| Been happier. Loved Airbourne. |
| The Bollywood Spectacular was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! Please PLEASE ask them back again!!
As well The Avalanches DJ Show PLEASE have them back!!
Airbourne and Architecture in Helsinki were very good also. |
| Wolfmother were awesome. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the friday night and a lot of bands I wanted to see were playing then. |
| yeah, the grates |
| yes. ...? |
| Peeping tom were great. You Am I amazing. Airborne rocked. Wolfmother were too quiet. |
| I was not as happy with the line up last year as I have been in previous years. I have faith though Aunty, you can't be good at everything every year. Maybe it was the thought of all the crystal gifts that distracted you... or maybe I'm getting too fussy and you did a fine job.... |
| mess hall, you am i, okkervil river,
ballarat brass band, airbourne |
| i love meredith yet last year there was too many "rock" bands, i enjoy rock but i'd like more genres-please |
| Yep loved it. Sons and Daughters, True Live, Airbourne good for a laugh, Avalanches- what a view looking out over the ampitheatre. |
| thought last year was the worst line up out of all the merediths i have been to, too much hip hop stuff |
| sniff sniff i missed last year due to breaking my foot a week before the gig! |
| Line up was good. Am not sure about Bob Log III as mystery act, however. One of the rumours* circulating was that the mystery act was The Bangles! I cannot tell you how excited I was at THAT prospect. (*nb "rumour" may have just been my mates enjoying themselves a bit TOO much and making shit up for the fun of it" |
| Wolfmother |
| I loved Blackalicious, Avalanches and Okervil River |
| bob log |
| yep |
| Loved it! |
| No, the year before was better. IT WAS VERY AVERAGE,,,, |
| Blackilicious |
|
|
| yeah, it was pretty good. even though they are very commercial and not my favourite band....wolfmother were incredible. so were architecture, mess hall and clare bowditch is always lovely....actually, okkervil river were also amazing!!! |
|
| Yes and no. Mess Hall. DJ Avalanches. Claire Bowditch |
| loved you am i, billy chidish. not keen on the hip hop, mc type acts. a bit more consistency please. less "JJJ" bands, they attract the "dickhead" element of the crowd methinks. |
|
| Loved it.. Mess Hall and The Avalanches were fantastic as was Wolfmother. |
| The Grates were AWESOME! Ditto for Wolfmother (I think that goes without saying) Hate to say it but wasn't a fan of Bob Log III (if that is even the right name for the weird mystery act dude with the breast obsession!) Loved Blackalicious - wanna see them again 4 sure, and True Live |
| steve malkmus straight through
to wolfmother was gold all the
way through. it was nice to have
a biggie like blackalicious on the
sunday. capped things off nicely.
needed a better act after the
avalanches, maybe a dancey rock
band? |
| steve malkmus, you am i, Okkervil River, billy childish, blackalicious |
| In general yes. There was too much hype surrounding the suprise, which turned out to be a disappointment. There were just a few little things that didn't quite click last year. Standouts- You Am I, Blackalicious, True Live, Mess Hall, The Grates, Sons & D's- all wonderful |
| Great line up, varied as hell! Mess Hall, You Am I, Avalanches DJ Show, Sons and Daughters - all stunning! Bob Log was a waste of time, would rather have been in bed, wish it was Motor Head. |
| Hell yeah definetly not bob log but please get the avalanches, cut copy, the grates, british india, blackalcious but at night time not afternoon! |
|
| You am I, wolfmother |
| Bollywood - fantastic. The infamous suprise act, not so fantastic. |
| Definitely. Obviously , Wolfmother were the standout...next best were Airborne...had never heard of or seen them b4 but they were awesome...Bob Log sucked (sorry, but I don't think I'm alone in that assessment)....True Live, Cut Copy & Blackalicious were the other 3 standouts for me. |
| Okkervill River, Cut Copy, The Grates, Sons & Daughters, The Mess Hall were great. All artists were fantastic, although I wasn't all that impressed with Bob Log 3rd. The afternoon and night just kept building like a balloon being inflated and he seemed to let a bit of air out just before it was about to pop. If that makes sense. |
| Memory not so good but no complaints |
| hell yeah,the avalanches,cut copy,wolfmother,the mess hall,true live,airbourne,the grates |
| yes! |
| wolfmother |
| British India and Architecture in Helsinki were awesome! |
| loved you am i, claire bowditch and wolfmother were ok |
| yes. cut copy were great... as were wolfmother and airbourne. good local acts in good times! |
| Blackalicious, arcitechture in helsinki, you am i, wolfmother, the grates, j live. |
| secret act was a bunch of arse but okkervil river, steve malkmus, the kills and billy childish were awesome!! |
| buff medways were fantastic, as were okkervil river and the jicks. |
| eddie current supression ring |
| Airbourne, Wolfmother |
| Architecture in Helsinki and Billy Childish |
| Billy Childish, Okkervil River,
Architecture In Helsinki, Stephen
Malkmus. |
| Last years line up was pretty damn good. Pity Wolfmother were too far up their own arses during their entire set.
Bob Log was one weird fella, I think he divided the crowd - after about 3 songs the whole tittie thing wore thin.
The Avalanches were AMAZING - they were 100% fun from start to end. The atmosphere was amazing, the vibe and excitement was palpable.
The Grates were a stack of fun.
Blackalicious was great. |
| Loved Sons and Daughters! And Billy
Childish impressed too. |
| malkmus and you am i. |
| You Am I sounded really good, as well as Wolfmother. I spent most of the time back at the ranch. |
| Yeah. Top Stuff.
Except the DJ who grunted along to "Walk on the Wild Side" - Yuk. |
|
| architecture in helsinki sucked balls, however WOLFMOTHER ROCKED . |
|
| billy childish standout other than that really there was not many bands that appealed to me, hence why i din't attend. |
| yep! sons and daughters stuck out. |
| stephen malkimus! |
| Eddy Current Suppression Ring
Young Professionals |
|
| Steve M was great. Couldnt see the gift properly. mybe should have them run at the top of the bank too. |
| Aside from the overrated mystery guest (man did our imaginations run wild!) |
|
| Architecture in Helsinki were awesome! |
| Eddy Current was great |
| not as much as all the others |
| Airbourne Rocked, there was some very lame middle o the road bands last year |
| Not as outstanding as previous years |
|
| The Kills, The Grates and The Mess Hall |
| Yes and no - was really disappointed that Bob Log III was the mystery act. Wasn't that impressed with the Bollywood Spectacular.
Loved Wolfmother, You Am I, British India and City City City. |
| unfortunately missed out for 1st time in
12 years. very pissed off |
| Billy Childish, Sons and Daughers, Matt Walker, |

| first of all i love all of you wonderful meredith orgainisers...... has to be said.... now given your spot-on assessment that there should be NO dickheads this year (cos quite a few snuck in last year and fucked up some of my happy feelings) can we please have more wonderful acts like Okkervil River!!! and broken social scene would be amazing. lets lure the canadians back. like a better commonwealth bonding thing... becase we know they're not much chop at summer sports. also perhaps art of fighting. HOW ABOUT SODASTREAM??? sunday morning!!! that would be nice. how about also as a nice little quite thing jens lekman, the lovely sweed. and how about archie roach. that would be nice. he is nice. hope your well. love from Violet. xoxoxooxxoxo |

|

|
| Definitely Airbourne again! Hilltop Hoods would be awesome (bit of an Aussie hip hop fan), The Herd, Snow Patrol, Cat Empire, Something for Kate, TZU.....would be my top picks but I defer to the better judgement (and musical taste of others). That was one the things I loved about popping my Meredith cherry was the ecclectic mix of artists.....keep up the great work, you guys do an awesome job!!! |
| Obviously you'll have to have Radiohead, Beck and The Flaming Lips.
Realistically though some bands that would be great;
The Morning Birds, The Bees, The Decemberists, Shout Out Louds, St Germain, ummm that'll do. |
| Dave Graney, who changed my life at 2000, Pornland who have broken up if you make it happen. The Cardigans, good luck with that one!! |
| pete murray,missy,sarah blasko,bernard fanning,faker,the valentinos,end of fashion,gyroscope,ween,grinspoon,the bravery as much aussie acts as you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| The atmosphere, the people, the MUSIC |
| its the new christmas |
| test |
| Close to Ballarat, other home town. |
| For Fun |
| Its, fun & cruisy |
| Its the bestest damb festival of all
time, and the people rock when its
smaller. |
| I go for the atmosphere, the people are fantastic, the site is beautiful and the everything is reasonably priced. |
| Overnight festivals are awesome and I think Meredith would have to be the most laidback and cruisey I've been to. I go for awesome music and a good time with friends. |
| To see new cool bands and go wild |
| my friends made me at first, (im not a big spender).
now i love it, ill go every year for the music, the company, the atmosphere. |
|
| Music, Friends, tradition, and most of all because it's a very magical place where the funnest time is had by all and everyone is friends with everyone else! |
| great "weekend away", huge piss up,
great bands, great setting, great food
and really laid back atmosphere |
| there is a whole crew of us who go every year, it started long before my meredith partaking days but through friends and family, i'm now on the bandwagon, it also got me through year 12 last year |
| Cos its what you do |
| i just love it... not full of fuckwits |
| It was the first festival i went to way back in 93. I've to many more since but i have never experienced anything like meredith, it's peaceful, it rocks, theres always a great lineup and something new, i have all my best mates there and i have never had a negative time for the 10 merediths ive been too. OOo and you dont let the corporations in to take over. Dont do it man! Fight the power! |
| To hand out with mates, for my ONE (count 'em, ONE) camping trip of the year, to wear one of those hippy headbands and not get laughed at, to eat crap food all weekend and NOT feel guilty, to wake up and have a West Coast Cooler for breakfast and not feel like an old alco on the street. Oh, and to catch some awesome live music. |
| Good ol fashion festival, love sittin on the esky watchin bands |
| It is the best weekend of the year!!!! |
| It's just the vibe |
| great vibe |
| atmosphere! |
| cool music and crowd ok but a bit young for me now |
| music and feel |
|
| fresh air and great music |
| because it's a great experience and a way to listen to good music....witho |
| It is such a chilled out fesitval. A great opportunity to check out new music. Most other fesitvals are hell bent on getting the big bands. meredith seems to give everyone a go and you get to see some fab up and coming music. |
| Becasue I love the rock music and the fact that it's a smaller festival |
| best festival in the world, the best weekend you'll ever have. |
| aint been, xmas work party every year on the friday
will go this year 1st time |
| Great atmosphere - partying with good friends. |
| There's nothing else like it...its small, chilled, awesome ppl and awesome music and beautiful surroundings |
| its the best weekend of my year,
every year. better than
christmas. |
| Excellent holiday to indulge in music and substances - catch up with old friends - discover new things. |
| It's the best most relaxed festival around. Great assortment of music, unbeatable location and fantastically organised. |
| Best weekend of the year, it signals the start of my summer, so much music in such a great enviornment, no kids in skate gear jumping over the crowd. |
| the enjoyment iof live music and great company around you! |
|
| Mates. Good times. music. the bender |
| To get away with friends and enjoy great (and new) music. |
| Awesome weekend with great bands and great people. I was amazed that with that many people who were that smashed I didn;t see an angry word between anyone the entire weekend |
| Last year was my first year and I have to say that I was just overwhelmed with the fact that everyone was so friendly. Complete strangers would just stand and talk to each other like they've known each other for years. The jibe was something I've never felt before, especially among such a large group. I obviously didn't meet the dickheads that got in... |
| Duh. |
| the enjoymeny of live music in summer and watching the aussie's up on stage! |
| I love it - its my holiday for the year. Hang out with great people, see great music and go home counting down for next year. |
| To relax and see bands |
| The music and people! |
| we love the atmosphere, the music, the camping and the meredith eye!!! |
| see bands, party. |
| Cos its really laid back, and there aren't many young wankas that go! The crowd is really friendly and the its a really fun chilled out vibe!! |
| No other festival compares. It's the anti festival, so relaxing and just a weekend of friends, booze and fun (not too mention the line-ups are always stellar. |
| best festival in australia! |
| eh? |
| Tradition, fun, beer and bands |
| to see music |
| Bands, hanging out with friends,
having a few beers. |
| For the fun, sun, great music and awesome people. |
| Best people go there and it's well
organised. Gets better every year. |
| party and rock. |
| My g/f originally got me involved now it is an annual social event. I love the atmosphere!! |
| For the smooth earthy tones. The High, and the Low. |
|
| because we love the music , the vibe , the line to the dunny's and we love getting the inner circle together with no other influences around to pull us apart. |
|
|
| good music. chance to run away from
life |
| cos it's awesome. and all my friends are there. |
| to see bands. |
|
| Coz I love the music and the long line of cars. |
| Great friends, great memories, great bands! |
| great music... and awesome atmosphere |
| to enjoy the music... |
| FUN |
| I wouldnt know what else to do that weekend. Its tradition and the perfect setting to spend time with friends. |
| Its unique and laid back, not for the jjj set. |
| Bands, friends, steak sandwiches |
| great atmosphere, always great bands, and a good excuse to go a bit nuts (in a non-dickhead sort of way of course) |
| Its the only music festival in OZ worth going too |
| Escape from the city, fresh air, great tunes, people - I love it! |
| because it's the best festival in the world.
very unique. i love it. i always have a good
time |
| the bands, going for walks away from the crowds (yes it's possible! - I grew up on a farm and I miss it), camping! we plan our wardrobe weeks in advance. |
| party down. |
| fun friends bands |
|
| its all good |
| great lineup, always is!! |
| food selection is great |
| its just ace |
| all good |
| Love the relaxed attitude to everything |
| everything right my good sirs |
| test |
|
| I missed the mystery geust
lastyear or was it bob log 3rd. |
|
| Getting to big. Entry is getting better.
being able to take your own grog is
the king |
| Festival is too short, please can we have another night??? |
| Pretty much everything right except for the toilet situation. They were rotten. Wouldn't have snapped one off if you tried to force me to. |
| I am biased to roots stuff - I like Brisbane bands |
| cant think of one thing i didnt enjoy |
| Maybe more attendants telling people where to camp, so f wits don't get pissed off when I camp in a spot that they are "saving". |
| It's all right! |
| just a couple of things last year, the
sounds was a bit low on saturday and
Bob Log III really disappointed me.... |
| you get everything perfect apart from the dickhead factor, i know its a rule but dickheads break the rules!!! |
| Everything is just right, except maybe the voluminous grog bogs by late saturday night. Dont think there will ever be a solution to that one.. |
| every thing is right, except the line up last couple of years not quite as good... i think we were really spoilt the couple of years prior |
| All good....hmm however the dunnies. I'm not going to say anything more. Your great seriously |
| Right - pretty much everything. Except MAN those toilets STINK.
WRONG - Ummmmmmmmmmcan't think of anythign at the moment (oh, except for BLIII mystery act debacle) |
| BYO is great, Food is great |
| I think there should be a mystery band again but someone a bit more popular |
| It's never over crowded, the number of people is perfect!! and of course no dick heads |
| the smaller crowd size is fab |
|
| get the best acts you can..the music is what makes it... |
| all is good, please continue to keep the numbers small.....this is the beauty of meredith, its the right size! |
|
| we want the rainmakers |
| i think there are actually a fair few dickheads at meredith....so you need to be more prominent with the whole "NO DICKHEADS" rule, so dickheads really get the idea |
| chilled out, not getting too big for your boots. amazing setting. really great crowd of people. |
| More food stalls and seating/dining (got tired of sitting in the dirt. More fresh drinking water. Mystery guest did not work. |
|
| fine |
| All was good - can't think of a fault. Maybe a few more toilets. |
| The hot potato stand definitely hits the spot! Only complaint last year was the mystery act |
| site is great. stinky toilets are a
part of life. giant circus tent
seemed superfluous but will be
invaluable if there's rain. mystery
act needs to be more of a suprise
but keep it up because its fun to
have mystery |
| i think the population of last year's meredith was exactly right - i don't think you should reduce (or increase) the numbers - there was enough room / facilities in my opinion. I liked the large crowd for the atmosphere.. Obviously there were some dickheads there last year, but i didn't notice any - i reckon you should try to stop creepy psychos however - my girlfriend got harrassed by someone last year.. he probably has real creep issues, so the 'no dickheads' rule may not apply ya know? How about 'No pilling creeps'? |
| Toilets- were much better last year. Food- healthier and better options- the rotis and mexican rocked. The suprise band was a let down and some more free water stations wouldn't go astray as it was so damn hot on the Sunday. |
| Nothing really wrong, entry is always a concern, but can't really be helped. The vibe and enviornment make this one of the best music festivals in the world - been to a few. |
| nothing you guys are great maybe one thing you got worng was bob log |
|
| as far as i'm concerned nothing could be more perfect |
| Right - atmosphere and spirit of the weekend. Breath testing at the gate... good idea.
Wrong - toilets. Not as bad, but still need more in more spots and service more often (particularly on the Sunday) |
| Right = The bands, the crowd, the location, the experience
Wrong = the toilets were a bit average but that's to be expected at a festival. Other than that......not long enough.....should run for a week!!! :) |
| I was happy with all aspects of the event. |
| No complaints, every year is more better, more organised - thanks for that!! |
| nothing your terrififc! |
| Right! Meredith is the highlight of my year. |
| last year blackalichious played on sunday when they should have played on saturday night |
| Love it all! |

| last year? the late night dancing wasn't as good as previous years... the surprise act was a let-down, even though i like bob log. the weather was too beautiful! and the no-dickheads wasn't enforced with enough beatings. |
| I have no complaints, hope it doesn't change too much and become too big! I think the gift is really funny. I love the fact that you can BYO, so you don't have to stash the grog in the car!!! |
| the capacity should not go up any more. It is a nice amount of people. Could be a bit more shaded areas |

| BYO alcohol much appreciated. |
| mostly right, lineup a bit obscure sometimes. |
| You guys have a knack for creating a great vibe. I know u r working hard on the entry traffic situation, but it is worse than the monash freeway. |
| Late night Dj's are somewhat douche-core. How 'bout some starving, unknown, unprofessional bands to play instead.
Or do open mike,
Spoken word.
The emcee could mutter barely discernable obsceneties (directed at nobody in particular) throughout the duration of performances. |
|

| More local acts, take more risks. always was hard, but it kind of worked in a way. SMALL LOCAL BANDS! show alot of the people there who have no idea about music the amazing things that are going on in the smaller melbourne music scene |
| it's AOK to me! |
| - one stage = right.
- xavier rudd/uami = wrong. |
| too many bogans / cunts who go there to get pissed - don't care about music. |
|
| More water available. And toilets suck. Everything else was amazing and beautiful last year. |
| I think you're collectively onto it. Last year was the busiest but by no means uncomfortable (and better looking crowd - which was equal parts weird and wonderful) |
| i love everything about this festival |
| more sydney bands. |
| DECENT LINEUPS? |
| You mainly get it right but it seems like its losing its innocence sadly.

| Linguistics
English term or phrase: stick his finger in a dike.
Refers to the little Dutch boy who stuck his finger in the dyke to save his homeland; being for the most part below sea-level, Holland has managed to keep above water by building dykes over the years, and legend has it that the little boy who stuck his finger in a hole in the dyke saved the day.
